Gianfranco Spitilli

Gianfranco Spitilli (Teramo, Italy, 1975) graduated in Ethnology with a thesis on the feast of the ox of St. Zopito in Loreto Aprutino and received his PhD in Ethno- Anthropology at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome, by analyzing a nucleus of ceremonial feasts with cattle animals in central Italy. He carried out research in the field of religious ethnology, ethnomusicology and anthropology of memory in central and southern Italy, Romania and Belgium. He is a member of the French Society of Ethnomusicology (SFE) , the Italian Association for Ethno-anthropological Sciences (AISEA) and the Italian Society for Museology and Demoethnoanthropological Heritage (SIMBDEA), and he is the president of Bambun, a cultural organization dedicated to Visual and demoethnoanthropological research, with which he conducts research in the area of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga in Abruzzo. He has published books, essays on Italian scientific journals, documentaries and Cds with research materials. In 2009 he won the Nigra prize for anthropological research.
