Xabier Erkizia


Born in Lesaka (Navarra, Spain), 1975. Musician, producer, journalist and sound artist who works from the Basque Country. He has worked and works with different media such as TV, radio, print, video, film, internet ... but the main feature of his work is research and some kind of curiosity in any form of communication or creation that involves listening and sound. Xabier Erkizia has worked (in studio and live) with artists from different disciplines such as Mattin, Eddie Prevost, Ilios, Francisco Lopez, TV Pow, Alan Courtis, John Oswald, Alex Mendizabal, Iñigo Telletxea, Cesc Gelabert, Voodoo Muzak , Akauzazte, Maialen Lujanbio, Arantxa Iturbe, Oier Etxeberria, Raimo Benedetti ...

Currently he is involved in musical and sound projects and such as Billy Bao, Ornitorrinkus or Soinumapa.net and regularly composes soundtracks for films by directors such as Isabel Herguera, Vuk Jevremovic or Izibene Oñederra, for which he has been awarded several international prizes competitions..

During the last 15 years he has co-directed ERTZ, an international festival dedicated to "other musics" in Bera (Navarra), and he has commissioned several exhibitions and projects, being a regular contributor to several radios and writing media, writing opinion columns and articles about music, sound and listening culture. He is a member of the AUDIOLAB association.
